The Exhibition
Black Line of Humanity is an exhibition focused on looking at the most intimate aspects of a person's worldview regarding body image and mental health.

The Creator
Artist, Photographer, Creator
Christian Ramirez has been creating art, primarily through photography and film, for the past 10 years. Spending most of his time within his community of Oxnard, California, his focus has always been to help people through photography.
Through his unique lens, Christian's photography transforms the lives of everyday individuals. Through portraiture, his subjects reach a new level of confidence vis-a-vis the way they are captured on camera. Christian also holds a great affinity for sharing the art of photography with at-risk/ at-promise youth who benefit from new perspectives and positive creative outlets.
His work is meant to evoke emotional responses in viewers. He lives for the love of art.
"I don't only see photography as way to self express and help move through difficult times. I see it as a tool to spark ideas in others which can potentially lead them to a better way of thinking about life."

Goals & Objective
Don’t Hope It Happens. Make It Happen.
This photographic exhibition of 15 new works seeks to shine a light on the struggles we all have regarding self-worth and body image.
These are challenging times for our mental health and it's easy to forget that we are more than what we see in the mirror, online or on a screen. Our bodies and our minds have significant worth, deserving of our care and consideration.
Exhibition
Hosted at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, this dynamic modern art event centers images, words and music to foster a positive environment.
Like the great arts-centric areas of Los Angeles and New York, Oxnard and the surrounding communities deserve an enriching art ecosystem that we can experience without having to leave the county.
Models
The participating subjects of this exhibit are all volunteers. The goal is to keep the imagery and process as open, honest, and authentic as possible, thus honoring the models and their lived experiences. It was critically important to work with individuals who built up the courage and decided to be part of the project of their own accord; Individuals who believed in the message and wanted to help share that with our community and beyond.
